Professional of the Year... NYSAEOP sponsors an annual Office Professional of the Year Award, offering recognition of office professionals, nominated by affiliate associations, who are ascribed by both their supervisors and peers as possessing exemplary professional and personal characteristics. 2007 - Rose Bain
Rose was honored at Thursday night’s banquet as the Office Professional of the Year (OPY). The New York State Association of Educational Office Professionals of the Year Award was established to annually recognize office professionals, nominated by affiliate associations, who are described by both their supervisors and peers as possessing exemplary professional and personal characteristics. The following criteria is used by the Committee to evaluate award candidates: an Affiliate of NYSAEOP must sponsor the candidate; professional involvements; recommendations from professional colleagues, supervisor, from sponsoring organization; and community/extra-curricular involvement. Rose also was presented an award for taking second place in the National Website competition through the National Association of Education Office Professionals (NAEOP) for the third year in a row. Rose has been the webmaster for the NYSAEOP website for seven years. Rose has been employed for WSWHE BOCES since 1994. For the first nine years she served as typist with various departments and has been an Information Processing Specialist for the last four in the Data Analysis department. She has been a member of NYSAEOP for 11 years and has volunteered to be the Interim Chairperson for the Public Relations committee. She has been President since 2005 for the Tri-County Educational Office Personnel Association (TEOPA) and a member of the National Association of Educational Office Professionals (NAEOP). Rose has served on committees on all three associations and is always willing to help whenever and wherever needed! She is a 15-year member of the local fire department auxiliary and has held offices of President, Secretary, Corresponding Secretary and was Chairperson for the Junior Auxiliary. She is a member of Moseskill marketplace in Argyle where she displays many of her other talents, such as her photography. Rose also has self-published a history book called “Lake Cossayuna, History and Portraits of the Past”. Rose is in the process of receiving her Associate’s Degree in Computer Technology. Rose supervisor Nicole Catapano, Coordinator for Data Analysis Services writes, “As the IP Specialist in our office, Rose assists in keeping our growing service up to date through her expertise in web maintenance and her ability to use various software packages. Her creativity helps to keep our office balanced between data crunching and knowledge building. With her involvement in the creation of our pod casts, Rose helped us lead the way to provide 21st century methods of professional development delivery.” Past Office Professionals
